NIH Open-Access Policy
JSAD is in compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy (Division G, Title II, Section 218 of PL 110-161 [Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2008]). For NIH-funded articles accepted for publication in JSAD on or after April 7, 2008, JSAD will submit the final printed article to PubMed Central upon publication but to be made accessible 1-year after publication. JSAD will handle all aspects of this submission to PubMed Central—authors should not submit any versions of the article to PubMed Central themselves. (Only NIH-funded articles will be submitted.)
Author-Pays Open-Access Option (Wellcome Trust and others)
Authors have the option to have their articles become open access immediately upon publication, for a fee of US$3000. For authors who use this option, articles will be licensed using the Creative Commons, attribution-only license (CC-BY), Version 2.0, in full compliance with Wellcome Trust regulations. Authors funded by the Wellcome Trust and Medical Research Council who do not chose the author-pays option may self-archive their articles 6 months after print publication. (This applies only to authors funded by the Wellcome Trust or Medical Research Council.)
For details and information about JSAD from the Wellcome Trust, please see the SHERPA/FACT listing for the journal.
Early Online Publication
JSAD will publish the final version of the article online in advance of the print date after completion of the editing process. Typically, online publication occurs 4 weeks before the official publication date of the issue that an article appears in. The average time from acceptance to online publication is 3.5 months. (The average time from acceptance to print publication is 4.5 months.)
