Validation of the Veterans Alcoholism Screening Test

SUMMARY. Based on a sample of 118 pairs of ambulatory care patients and their relatives, the Veterans Alcoholism Screening Test was found to be a more valid, useful, and accurate indicator of alcoholism than the Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test when distinguishing between current and former alcoholics.
