Sober Comportment; Patterns and Perspectives on Alcohol Addiction

SUMMARY. An interview study of alcoholics and wives of alcoholics revealed that, during sober periods, alcoholics experience heightened self-awareness of their physical condition and social behavior, which results in almost constant self-conscious activity and tension as they attempt to cope with their physical symptoms while improving their social relationships.
