Prearrest Behavior of Persons Convicted of Driving while Intoxicated

SUMMARY. Over half of persons arrested for driving while intoxicated had been drinking with friends, relatives or spouses prior to the arrest, but few reported that any attempt had been made to stop them from driving. Measures designed to reduce the incidence of drunken driving are discussed.
