Negative Affect, Alcohol Consumption and Hangover Symptoms among Normal Drinkers in a Small Community

SUMMARY. Among normal drinkers of both sexes, negative life events, neuroticism, guilt about drinking, and depression or anger while drinking were positively related to development of hangover symptoms regardless of whether the subject was a heavy, moderate or light drinker; heavier drinkers reported more severe hangover symptoms.
