Lithium Antagonism of Ethanol-Induced Depletion of Cerebellar Guanosine-3′,5′-Cyclic Monophosphate and Stimulation of Striatal Dopamine Release

Walter A. Hunt, Mark E. Goldman

SUMMARY. Long-term lithium treatment antagonized the behavioral intoxication, depletion of cerebellar guanosine-3′,5′-cyclic monophosphate and stimulation of striatal dopamine release induced by a single dose of ethanol. Blood ethanol concentrations were significantly reduced after lithium treatment in a dose-dependent manner.
