Drinking Motives and Behavior in Social Drinkers

SUMMARY. A survey of 113 college students indicated that drinkers with mature motives for drinking (e.g., drank on special occasions) drank less than drinkers with immature motives (e.g., drank to increase self-confidence) and showed smaller increases 1 year later.
