SUMMARY. During rest, stress and homeostatic recovery, drinking and nondrinking alcoholics showed impaired pupillary contraction, but the pupillary dilation in drinking alcoholics was slower and more attenuated than that in nondrinking alcoholics and nonalcoholics.
