A Scale for Measuring the Severity of Alcoholism and Evaluating Its Treatment

SUMMARY. Test results in close to 6000 alcoholics show that the 20 items of the self-administered Missouri Alcoholism Severity Scale have an internal consistency of .84; testings in much smaller samples show that the scale has a test-retest reliability of .74 and that scores reflect the positive effects of treatment.
